Lord’s Taverners Annual Golf Day

Friday 26th May 2017 dawned a beautiful clear cloudless Queensland May morning perfect for the Lord’s Taverners Annual Golf Day the proceeds of which contribute to the support of the young and disadvantaged cricketers.
The event was held at the Virginia Golf Club with a shotgun start from the 1st tee and the 10th tee at 12 noon after a sandwich lunch part of the starting cost of $80.00 single entry or $400.00 for a foursome. 98 starters hit off competing for the Ron Archer Cup and other trophies.
After all cards were in and counted the winners were announced as Ben Clarke and Harry White part of the Hutchinson Builders team , who were also a hole sponsor on the day, with 50 points.
Runners up were Sam Mitchell and Dave Warner with 45 points.
Best first 9 went to Scooby and Ras on 24 points with Dick Roberts and John Duncan as runners up on 23 points.
Best second 9 went to Nick Robinson and Will Fardoulis on 24 points with Brody Grogan and Ian Greig runners up on 23 points.
Nearest the pin winners were hole 3 Eric Nye, hole 9 John Duncan, hole 12 Ken Louis and hole 14 Paul Branson.
The longest drive under 50 was won by John Duncan and over 50 by Brett Dascombe.
The final trophies were awarded to 20 players on the countback. During the trophy presentation, light finger food was served and a raffle was conducted which earned $1490.00.Another memorable Lord’s Taverners Golf Day completed with votes of thanks and congratulations all round.
